The paper bag acts as the first stage of filtration and provides a cleaner means of disposing the collected dust. Made of a 2-ply cellulose material, the 1.3 gallon capacity paper bag provides an extra large surface area to eliminate suction loss as the bag begins to fill. A package of five paper bags comes standard with the vacuum cleaner. The paper bag should be replaced as needed, thus this depends upon the frequency of vacuuming and nature of material picked up. The paper bag retains 99.7% of all particles down to and including 3 microns in size. |

The second stage of filtration is a permanent filter located inside the machine. Made of 100% napped cotton, the flat surface of the main filter provides a steady, even airflow through the machine and eliminates the premature clogging of all of the filters. This filter does not need to be replaced for the life of the machine, however it does need to be cleaned. To clean the main filter, detach the top of the canister and use the hose to vacuum the side of the main filter that is closest to the brown paper bag. The main filter retains 99.8% of all particles down to and including 3 microns in size. |

HEPA filters are the "state-of-the-art" in filtration. Their filtration ability meets all standards necessary to keep our industrial users safe from hazardous-toxic material exposure, including ultra fine particles. HEPA filters have been used primarily in nuclear facilities and high technology cleanroom settings until their introduction in to the home allergy market. Each filter is made of nearly five square feet of glass fiber paper that is tightly woven for finer filtration. The FIEPA filter mounts easily on top of the motor and lasts about five years in normal household use. Replacement cartridges take only minutes to install.
Note - High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters are individually DOP-tested and certified. The FIEPA filters retain a minimum of 99.97% of particles down to and including 0.3 microns in size. A true HEPA filter will also feature an efficiency rating and batch number. |
